The 1900 U. S. Census found a Delbert E. Rich aged 7 (birth date February 1893), living with his parents, George D. and Lottie E. Rich, both of whom were born in Indiana. Their residence in 1900 was North Chicago Village (Waukegan), Illinois.
In 1910 a Delbert Rich shows up on the U. S. Census in Spokane, Washington indicating that both his parents were born in Indiana and with an age recorded as 18.
Miller and Cohen record in their The Big Burn on page 100 with the list of dead “At the Dittman Cabin – On the West Fork of Big Creek” the following:
“Three other bodies were found during the summer of 1911, probably homesteaders. One of these was positively identified as Delbert E. Rich.”
